And watched pictures of the insurrection
Today I sorted through papers
And scrolled through one article after another
Today I wrote a song
And heard descriptions of the siege
Today I took pain medicine
And the weight of the world was still on my shoulders
Today I went about my business
Today I was afraid
While my country burned
